📈 #62 Predictions about OR in the AI era
Analyzing our current position, calculating the trajectory, and envisioning the future of Operations Research.
The other day, I had an interesting conversation with a friend.
We discussed Operations Research, including countries using it, maturity level vs other technologies, and its future considering the AI hype.
I’ve covered these areas in Feasible. You can grasp the first one in this job hunting article (add India to that map). I discussed its maturity level in The third wave of analytics. Since I’m interested in the OR and AI combination, I’ve written about 3 AI breakthroughs reshaping Operations Research and how to integrate AI with OR for optimal decision making.
As AI advances, it will significantly impact Operations Research.
Today in Feasible I’ll share:
🔮 My predictions on how AI will transform Operations Research
🤖 How to leverage AI as an OR practitioner
🔧 The best AI-enhanced OR tools right now

🔮 Predictions — 7 ways AI will reshape Operations Research
Humans struggle with predictions due to psychological, cognitive, and systemic reasons.
We’re biased, limited to linear thinking, and influenced by our emotions and society.
So here I am, giving you my predictions about how AI will reshape the OR field:
The integration of AI and OR will create hybrid models. AI won’t replace OR models but enhance them. AI can preprocess data, learn patterns, and suggest formulations before handing it to traditional solvers for final computation. This hybrid approach will lead to more robust and effective optimization solutions.
Metaheuristics will
