What a summer, huh?

Last weeks have been pretty intense in Operations Research.

The field is evolving rapidly nowadays, I can see a lot of movement inside it. Like everyone now is aware of Operations Research and want to get a piece of the cake.

Usually, academia has dominated the field. It creates innovation, it solves complex problems, and everything stays inside. And thus OR is not widely known even though it impacts business revenues more than any other technology.

But things are changing.

Now, academia creates the innovation in the form of algorithms, and that innovation is transferred to society in the form of companies that build powerful tools. Those companies create the building blocks to actually solve complex business problems in real life with the help of experts in the field.

This is a virtuous cycle since the more innovation, the better algorithms, that creates diverse and better building tools, that contribute to solve problems in very different industries, each with their own details… Which ends up on academia creating more innovation for those specific details.

Today you are going to see such a cycle, but as I love starting from the industry, you’ll see the cycle starting from that point.

Maybe you wonder why LLMs in this context?

Let’s dive in! 🪂
